How to Change a Banner Retractor

Remove and Replace Banner Retractor Banners

Did you know that you can replace your banner in our Retractable Banner Stands? Well, you can! Watch this video for step by step instructions!

Removal of Current Banners:

1. Remove the steel pin located on the bottom of the retractor base. Pull the banner out of the retractor all while rolling it up.
2. Once the banner is all the way rolled up, place the steel pin on the side of retractor. By placing the pin in the correct hole, this will keep the banner from being pulled back inside the retractor base.
3. Now place the banner and retractor on a table and carefully remove the tape.
4. Flip the banner and retractor over and remove tape from backside **the longer the tape has had to adhere, the stickier it will be.
5. Once the tape has been removed slide the old banner off to the side and unroll. You should be able to pop open the "Snap Frame" with a bit of force.

Installing a Replacement Banner:

1. Roll up new banner and place the top into the "Snap Frame" and pop shut with a bit of force. Be sure that the banner is evenly placed in before snapping shut. This will help avoid wrinkles and crooked banners.
2. Starting with the "Snap Frame" roll up the banner. Be sure to tuck in metal hook to help avoid scratching the new banner
3. Line up the bottom of the new banner with the black line on the banner retractor.
4. Measure out the correct amount of tape and apply. Be sure to place the tape half over a portion of the new banner and a portion over the retractor paper. Trim off any excess tape that may be sticking out of the banner. This could prevent the banner from retracting properly
5. Flip the banner and retractor over and repeat step 4 on the back side of the banner
6. Flip out the legs of the retractor and place on the ground. With a firm grip on the banner pull out steel pin from the side of the retractor and allow the banner to slowly retract into the retractor base. 

**Once the steel pin is removed the retractor will immediately pull on the banner with force. Pull banner in and out of the retractor a couple of times to make sure the banner is retracting straight.

We updated our online designer to make it easy for you to align your text. You can now have your text align to the left, right or center of your design with the click of a button!

Click on the "Add TEXT" button to add a text box to the online designer.

You can either double click the text to edit it, or click on the left menu and edit the text there. You can change the font and color. You can re-size the text by selecting one of the 8 circles on the red line and moving your mouse. If you click "Ctrl" and drag the text it will keep its proportions.

Once you have the text formatted as you want, go to the left sidebar and look for the alignment box at the bottom. You will have to have your text selected in order to view the alignment area. Click on the left align button, the center align button or the right align button to move the text. The left align and the right align will automatically move your text box in a little bit for the hems and grommets.

Selecting Clip Art for your Banner
Click on the "Add CLIPART" button. This will open up a pop up of all of our clip art. Scroll down until you see the a category that will be relevant for your trade show banner. Click on the category to view the images. Click on an image to add it to your design.

Adding Text
Click on the "Add TEXT" button. A text box will appear in the online designer. You can either double click on the the text top open a pop up window, or you can click on the left sidebar and type in there. You can change the font and color of the text.

Designer Tip: If you click on the clip art or the text in the online designer a red outline will appear with 8 circle around the perimeter. You can re-size the clip art or text by selecting one of the 8 circles on the red line and moving your mouse. If you click "Ctrl" and drag the image it will keep its proportions. You can also move the image to the front or to the back by clicking on the up arrow or down arrow. The red circle will revert the clip art back to the original. The trash can will delete the image.

Selecting a Background
Click on the "Add BCKGND" button. This will open up a pop up of all of our backgrounds. Scroll down until you see a background category that interests you. We have lots of background images including sports backgrounds, holiday backgrounds, colored backgrounds and more! Click on a background and click the "Insert Background" button to add it to your design.

Uploading Images and Photographs
If you want to add any photographs or other images, click on the "Upload IMAGE" button. A pop up window will appear. Click on the "Select Files" button and upload the files from your computer. The image will appear in the online designer.

Once you have finished designing your banner, you can either click on the "Save for Later" button or the "Accept Design" button to begin the checkout process.

We have updated our ordering process to make it easier for customers outside of the United States to place orders online from Banners.com. If you are shipping outside of the United States, please follow our step by step instructions below:

Step 1: Go to the Product Page
You will need to select your products size, quantity and finishing options.
Step 2: Select your Design Method
Depending on what product you are ordering, you can either design online using templates, upload a print ready file or work with one of our graphic designers. If you select a template or upload a file you will be taken into the online designer. You will need to click on the "Accept Design" button.
Step 3: Product Options
You will need to review that all of your product options are correct. You can also select whether or not you would like to receive an additional proof. If you have any additional comments, please add them to the "Additional Info" Box. When you are done, click on the "Add to Cart" button.
Step 4: Shopping Cart
In the shopping cart you can apply any discount codes and estimate your shipping. Select your country from the drop down menu and enter in your postal code. Click "calculate" and your shipping options will display.

Once you've selected your shipping option, click on the "Proceed to Checkout" button. If you are signed into your account, you will be taken to the Billing and Shipping page. If you haven't created an account, you will need to create an account or sign in using Facebook.
Step 5:  Billing and Shipping
You will need to enter in your billing and shipping information. Select your country from the drop down menu.You will need to enter in all of the required fields. They are marked with a red asterisk.
*If the site does not accept the Providence name, please try the Providence abbreviation ie. Ontario should be ON

You can either pay with a credit card or with a check. If you select a check, your order will not go into production until after we receive your payment. When you are done filling everything in, click on the "Review my Order" button. If you don't have something filled in correctly, a little pop up window will appear that will tell you what you are missing.
Step 6: Order Review
When everything looks correct, click on the "Approve Designs & Process Order" button.

How to Maintain your Vinyl Banners

Tips for Maintaining the Life of Your Vinyl Banners

Our 13 oz vinyl banners are meant to last 3-5 years when used outdoors and 7-10 years when used indoors. In order to get these lifespans, you will need to use proper hanging techniques. Vinyl banners are durable enough to withstand rain, snow and other natural elements - but you will still need to take proper care of them. Here are some tips to get the most out of your vinyl banner.

Hanging your Banner
Vinyl banners are finished with heat welded hems and grommets placed every 2-4 feet around the perimeter of the banner. You should use all the grommets provided to prevent your banner from tearing out or ripping. You can use bungee cords, hanging clips, ropes and zip ties to help secure your banner. You can display your banner on the side of buildings, on a fence or between poles.

If possible, you should avoid direct sunlight to avoid fading. You should also avoid high wind locations to prevent the wind from destroying your banner.

Cleaning your Banner
If your banner is exposed to the elements, it might require occasional cleaning. If you are going to wash your banner, use lukewarm water. You can add dish soap to the water. Avoid using abrasive cleaning materials like power washers and brushes. You should only use soft towels to avoid scratching the banner and ruining the prints.

Storing your Banner
When your banner is not being used, make sure that you roll the banner up. Keep the printed side out when you roll the banner to protect the inks. To prevent the banner from bending, you should keep the box it was shipped in and store it in there. You should also keep your banner out of extreme heat. Avoid windows or other direct sunlight to prevent the banner from fading.

You Can Now Design Decals in Our Online Designer!

Decals are a form of sticker that you can apply to cars, trucks, boats, windows and other materials to advertise your company or as a form of decoration. Our standard finishing for decals is square cut. If you need a dye cut decal, you will need to work with a graphic designer to make sure the cut paths work correctly.

Depending on your needs, we have three different types of materials available: 3M Controltac, Calendered Vinyl with Lamination and High Performance Cast Vinyl with Lamination.You will need to select a material to begin.

Getting Started on Your Custom Decal
Once you are on the product page, there are two easy steps.

• Step 1: Choose Size and Quantity
• Step 2: Choose Design Method

The decals are sized in half foot increments. You will need to select the height and width from the drop down menu. You will also need to select the quantity of decals. Please note this is the quantity per artwork file. If you need multiple artwork files, you will need to design each one separately.
